In 1989, James Worden and Anita Rajan Worden founded Solectria Corporation to develop and manufacture a wide range of energy management components for automotive, power generation, and other industrial applications. From 1989 to 2005, Solectria Corporation manufactured and sold over 4,000 vehicles worldwide -- including cars, trucks, buses, and industrial machines -- which relied on Solectria Corporation’s proprietary drive system technology, including inverters.
Solectria Corporation focused on electric/hybrid vehicle drive trains and related components built to sustain harsh environments with extremely stringent design specifications and requirements due to rigorous requirements for lifetime, reliability, and cost from the automotive truck and bus industry customers and partners. Solectria Corporation also manufactured power electronics and controls of high power systems, including inverters, DC/DC converters, 3-phase traction drive systems, energy storage and related technologies.
In January 2005, Solectria Renewables, a photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturer, was founded as a spin-off from Solectria Corporation, which was sold to Azure Dynamics. Solectria Renewables went from "EV to PV" (electric vehicles to photovoltaics) carrying the inverter technology utilized in the Solectria Corporation EV's to manufacture PV inverters. The key staff and exclusive technology license for renewable power generation puts the Company in a leading position with 100% focus and dedication to PV grid-tied technologies for sustainable future.
Solectria Renewables, LLC is now the leading U.S. based PV inverter, string combiner and web-based monitoring company for residential, commercial and utility-scale solar projects. Solectria Renewable's wide range of products include 1.8kW to 500kW grid-tied inverters for 1kW to multi-MW PV systems. Solectria Renewables is backed by over 20 years experience with inverters. All commercial and utility-scale PV inverters are manufactured in the USA, ARRA compliant, Ontario FIT Content Compliant and listed to UL 1741/IEEE 1547.
Solectria Renewables also offers string combiners and web-based monitoring systems in addition to PV inverters. The string combiners are capable of combining 4-30 strings with multiple fused positions. Solectria Renewables also offers a variety of web-based monitoring system options through the SolrenView web-based monitoring system. SolrenView provides Solectria Renewables' customers with the opportunity to view their solar system performance in various ways.
